When Donald Trump fired his former chief strategist Steve Bannon among rumors that the pair’s relationship had been going south for quite some time, everyone pretty much knew that Bannon wasn’t going to disappear without striking back at Trump in some way.
Well, that day has come. According to the Daily Beast, Trump’s former right hand man is now trying to get Trump’s arch nemesis, billionaire Mark Cuban, to run for president against Trump in 2020
According to anonymous sources, Bannon has been trying to convince the wealthy Shark Tank investor and Dallas Mavericks owner to run for the White House for the past three years, and has stated that Cuban would be best running as a Democrat (sorry, GOP). Not that this would surprise anyone – Cuban not only campaigned heavily for Hillary Clinton during her presidential campaign, but he’s also publicly attacked Trump several times. Basically, Cuban is Trump’s worst nightmare and his old BFF is trying to set up a face-off between the two! Sam Nunberg, an ex-advisor to Trump who is close to Bannon, said:
Cuban has since downplayed his friendship with Bannon, stating that he has “texted with him a few time[s]” and that those texts are only “one full sentence.” However, Cuban and Bannon were both spotted having a meal together right before the 2016 election, and the Breitbart CEO has chosen to post many favorable stories about Cuban. Cuban just might be up for the challenge, too. Previously he said of running for POTUS:
“It’s possible. When I have something to offer, I will.”
While this is definitely a major ‘f*ck you’ to Trump, it certainly doesn’t help that previously, Bannon has said that he thinks Trump only has a 30% chance of finishing his first term. Wait until Trump finds out about Bannon’s latest plan to ruin his (already destroyed) presidency!
