Throughout his short tenure as president, Donald Trump has spent a lot of time attacking his various “enemies” most notably the Democrats and the media. However, lately, Trump has gone after a new, and somewhat unexpected target, professional football. It’s rather strange seeing Trump attack football since it is generally something that politicians of both parties can get behind. Trump’s feud with the NFL is allegedly over his disagreement with Colin Kaepernick’s choice to kneel in protest during the national anthem.
Recently, Trump has taken his feud a step further, sending out a tweet calling for the boycott of the NFL, and followed it up with a tweet saying such protests were disrespectful to service members who died in defense of the U.S.
Twitter, it seems, is full of Trump supporters, because the president’s tweets got plenty of support, but there were also many Americans who felt that Trump was the one dishonoring the sacrifice made by U.S. servicemen and servicewomen by undermining the first amendment’s protections on free speech.
